A - Migraine

A - Migraine

It causes recurrent headache usually one sided accompanied with gastric, visual and other signs. The patient is completely normal between two attacks.

Causes :

  1. Stress – e.g. examination or important interview
  2. Food allergy
  3. During menses
  4. Missing meals
  5. Drugs- birth control tablets
  6. Over exertion
  7. Exposure to sun
  8. Sleeplessness or excessive sleep

Symptoms :

  • Severe one sided head pain
  • Visual problem such as seeing – dazzling – zigzag lights
  • Eye can not tolerate light
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Headache increased by movement
  • Giddiness
  • Intolerance of light and noise
  • Irritability
  • Anxiety

B - Headpain

Headache is of various types like tension headache migraine, cluster headache and sinus headache

Causes :

  1. Most of the head pain is caused by tension in the muscle of the neck and scalp after periods of stress.
  2. Eye strain rarely produces headache
  3. Sensitivity to certain food
  4. Change in weather and attitudes
  5. Hormonal fluctuations
  6. Emotions
  7. Certain medicines
  8. Smoking
  9. Alcohol
  10. Fever
  11. Head injury
  12. Meningitis

Symptoms :

  • Head pain in Migraine is usually severely thrombing and involves one side of the head.
  • Vomiting and blurring of vision.
  • Dull steady pain as of a band around head in case o tension headache.
  • Pulsating pain with nasal congestion in case of sinu headache.
  • A sudden severe headache like a blow may indicate internal bleeding somewhere underneath the brain
  • Meningitis produces severe headache aggravated from light and accompanied by stiff neck.
